Photos with Captions, to Make You Smile and Think

It’s Cinco de Mayo, which is a holiday that celebrates the date of the Mexican army’s May 5, 1862 victory over France at the Battle of Puebla during the Franco-Mexican War.  It’s also a rainy Wednesday, up here, in the Great Green North.

It’s been raining for most of the past week and I don’t want to hear anything more about what the rains bring. 🙂 Besides, it’s May, not April, so the little rhyme no longer applies. Anyhow, just thought I bring out some of these photos with captions, to hopefully brighten the day.

When someone asks, “Are you still working on your book?”

Most writers: “Always.”

Born and raised on a farm near Brockville, Ontario, Mark Bierman's childhood consisted of chores, riding horses, snowmobile races across open fields, fishing trips to a local lake, and many other outdoor adventures. He was also an avid reader of both fiction and non. Transitioning towards adulthood also meant moving from the farm and into large urban areas that introduced this country boy to life in the big cities.   6. This series is one of my favourite posts, Mark. Yes, Green equals Rain. You remind me how we continue to learn a great deal about life in nature. The “simple act of kindness” never grows old. Hope you had a good weekend. 🙂

  10. These are all great, Mark, but I love the writing one as I work on my book. 🙂 As to your rain, can you please send some to the bay area in CA? We’re in a severe drought and in red flag warning this weekend, hot temps+gusty winds=fire danger. 😦

  21. I live in a farming community and when I am complaining of the rain people say “But the farmers….”

    Like they also don’t suffer from too much of a good thing!

  23. Thanks for the information on the Franco-Mexican War, Mark. Now I know why a French President for the first time ever thought of the merits of Napoleon Bonaparte. Crazy world! Best wishes, Michael
