Two of the young guests at my daughter’s 13th birthday party said things I’d never expected.
Kid # 1: “Please pass me the broccoli.” (yes, we bought a veggie tray, along with the junkfood, we are ‘those’ parents)
Kid # 2: “I hate chocolate cake!”
Eh? Say Whaaattt??!! What’s with kids these days?

Born and raised on a farm near Brockville, Ontario, Mark Bierman's childhood consisted of chores, riding horses, snowmobile races across open fields, fishing trips to a local lake, and many other outdoor adventures. He was also an avid reader of both fiction and non.
Transitioning towards adulthood also meant moving from the farm and into large urban areas that introduced this country boy to life in the big cities.
After a short stint as a private investigator, he moved into the role of Correctional Officer, working at both Millhaven Institution and Kingston Penitentiary, until it closed.

Weirdly, my 3-year-old daughter loves broccoli, celery, tomatoes and chocolate but don’t really like gummies or sweet.

LOL! As a kid, I never cared for beef, but I loved my veggies. My parents never had to ask me to finish them because I always did. I still won’t touch a steak, but I’ll devour broccoli.
Those are smart kids 😉

Hey, don’t pass up that chocolate cake. Or, save it for a cheat day.

It is amazing. I had a tea party for our family today to celebrate my oldest son, Greg’s birthday, which is tomorrow, and mine, which was yesterday. I made a hummingbird cake which has pineapple in it and my niece wouldn’t touch it.

Happy birthday to both of you! The cake sounds delicious, but there’s always one who won’t eat it. 🙂

I have a nephew who won’t drink pop. I think kids just have different taste buds than the rest of us. I remember being super-picky as a child, but as an adult, I love just about everything (except peas–yucky!).

I keep telling my kids the same thing about developing their tastes. My youngest hates hamburgers but will eat ground beef (huh?).

Delighted to hear it! These kids do exist, in large amounts but just like good news, it doesn’t sell newspapers!

Very true! I was quite impressed, after I got over my shock. 🙂

There is great hope for the future Mark, in the hands of many very capable young people, despite what the media would have us believe!

I think most of these poor kids just get a ‘bad rap’ and undeservedly so.

Yep! It’s a whole new generation for sure!

Yes, many good parts, not all the bad we always hear about. 🙂
